Status: The Foundation operates as a fund under the umbrella of the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt, nonprofit organization. Contributions to SAFES are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. All donors receive a letter of thanks from Mid-Shore including language to claim a tax deduction.

Programs: The Foundation offers scholarships to young people to attend the North American Piping and Drumming Academy. Scholarships are also awarded to Eastern Shore High School students to attend 3 week summer enrichment programs at either The University of St. Andrews or Stirling University in Scotland. The award covers all tuition, room, and board costs. See the Scholarships Tab along the top menu of this website for more information and to apply. In addition, Foundation Trustees are currently considering a number of options for offering educational and charitable assistance on the Eastern Shore.
