The St. Andrew's Society Of The Eastern Shore

Organization: At the SASES Oct. 15, 2023 Annual Business Meeting, members voted to ratify the bylaws for and approve the establishment of a new non-profit foundation, The St. Andrew’s Foundation of the Eastern Shore, (SAFES). For the first year, the current officers of the Society are serving as Trustees to set up the organization and move it forward. A separate slate of trustees will be nominated and elected at the 2024 SASES Annual Business meeting. The nominees may be members but not officers of the current Society Board. Purpose: The Foundation seeks to promote Scottish traditions and heritage as well as to provide charitable support to our community. Funds raised are used for scholarships, hosting events, and other activities that further interest in Scotland’s people, culture, and history, and building on the Scottish tradition of generosity, we also award grants to Eastern Shore charities that help those in need.

Status: The Foundation operates as a fund under the umbrella of the Mid-Shore
Community Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt, nonprofit organization. Contributions to SAFES are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.  All donors receive a letter of thanks from Mid-Shore including language to claim a tax deduction.

Your Support: You can help the foundation's start-up by becoming a Founding Donor. Your donation will allow us to establish a working fund which can be used to develop new programs over the coming months.
